Michael Thorbjornsen closed out the 2026 Rocket Classic in style, firing a final-round 7-under 63 at Detroit Golf Club to finish at 18-under and capture his first PGA TOUR victory by two shots. The 24-year-old, born in Cleveland and raised in Massachusetts, sealed the win with a 26-foot birdie putt on his 72nd hole.

The victory locks up Thorbjornsen's spot in the FedExCup Playoffs, moving him to No. 69 in the standings with the top 70 advancing after next week's Wyndham Championship.

Thorbjornsen entered the final round three shots back of 54-hole leader Davis Riley, who opened with three bogeys in his first six holes and never fully recovered. Thorbjornsen took the lead for good at the 14th, part of a stretch where he made three birdies over six holes, and played bogey-free golf the rest of the way despite shifting conditions that started wet and turned windy.

Xander Schauffele made a late push, carding a 65 to finish runner-up at 16-under, two shots back. Riley settled for third at 15-under, with Rasmus Højgaard fourth at 14-under. Hideki Matsuyama, Matt Wallace, and Kristoffer Ventura tied for fifth at 13-under.

Thorbjornsen becomes the eighth first-time winner on TOUR this season, following Jackson Koivun's breakthrough win last week at the 3M Open. He turned pro in 2024 as the top-ranked player in PGA TOUR University and won the 2018 U.S. Junior Amateur over three-time TOUR winner Akshay Bhatia.

This year's tournament marked the eighth and final playing of the Rocket Classic at Detroit Golf Club.
